… careful, there’s A LOT… and more to be added!
Washington Initiative – We are a group actively working to make the Greater Seattle area a safer and better place. This is done through humanitarian outreach, neighborhood crime watch, empowerment/awareness outreach, law enforcement support, environmental activism and Community Emergency Response. I have been a part of the Initiative for over three years, and leading the Washington branch for over two.
HEROES 101 Radio – “Branches of the Initiative Collective, along with guest speakers, come together to share and discuss timely info, safety tips, survival skills, and geeky fun.” – I come on the show to discuss body positivity, community activism, and more.
Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) – CERT educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can assist others in their community following a disaster when professional responders are not immediately available to help. I have been a member of the Tukwila, WA CERT team since 2013.
Unexpected Productions – Unexpected Productions is the heart of improv in Seattle, has been performing comedy improv in Seattle since 1983, and is dedicated to promoting the art and spirit of improvisation. I am currently on the Board of Directors.
Hollaback! – “Hollaback! is a global movement to end harassment powered by a network of grassroots activists. We work together to understand harassment, ignite public conversations, and develop innovative strategies to ensure equal access to public spaces. We leverage new technologies to bring voice to an issue that historically has been silenced, and to build leadership within this movement to break the silence.” I am in the process of starting a Seattle branch.
The Seattle Lesbian – The Seattle Lesbian (TSL) is a daily online news magazine operating from offices in the Pacific Northwest, and reaching communities spanning continents around the world. TSL has changed the landscape of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) life by providing thought-provoking content with substantial relevancy on various angles of discussion and advocacy. I have been cross-publishing on The Seattle Lesbian’s site since 2015.
